Patricia Sambo

DKDrawingcharcoaldigital artAI artinterdisciplinary art

From Angola to Copenhagen, Patrícia Sambo traces uncanny forms between body, plant and imagined space through charcoal drawing and human–AI exchange. Influenced by surrealist automatism, she explores how these forms emerge through both handmade and technologically mediated processes, creating a foundation for her ongoing investigation of transformation and authorship. This inquiry unfolds in her series Ambivalent Mutations, which brings together handmade, collaboratively developed and AI-generated images to question how knowledge of a work’s origins changes its interpretation. Moving between paper and digital images, the series examines authorship as a sequence of interventions rather than a single act, linking material experimentation with the shifting possibilities of technological collaboration. Across these processes, attraction and discomfort, vulnerability and protection, growth and dissolution remain deliberately unresolved. Rather than resolving these oppositions, Sambo’s practice holds them in tension, making their instability visible while clearly documenting the distinct roles of human and AI creation.

Ambivalent Mutations 2026 — Video Presentation

AI Art SeriesAI DrawingOct 15, 2026
A video presentation of three works exploring bodily and vegetal metamorphosis through handmade drawing, human–AI exchange and AI-generated imagery. Ambivalent Mutations asks how knowing an image’s origins changes what we see and value. Attraction and discomfort, vulnerability and protection, growth and dissolution remain unresolved—as does the question of authorship.
